This week we received a call from a friend of a client with an employment issue. He was recruited, signed a contract and shown his office and the company car.
The start of his employment came around, but the recruiter kept delaying until he seemed to have been fired. The CEO claimed no knowledge of the start date, but offered a lowly one week’s pay in full and final settlement of our client’s claim.
We think that he is probably entitled to about 3 months’ pay, but the employment contract is not well-drafted. This is why we get involved. Disputes are less-likely to arise if contracts are well-drafted and everyone knows their rights and obligations.
